SecondBite – Food for People in Need

SecondBite is a dynamic not-for-profit organisation that is committed to making a difference to the quality of life for many people who are living in disadvantaged circumstances or homeless.

SecondBite specialises in fresh food that requires special handling and that has limited shelf life. This food is delivered fresh directly to over 70 food relief agencies and community organisations of all sizes that simply do not have the resources or food handling skills to source and collect the food themselves.

The simplicity of our model has enabled us to be extremely flexible in our collections, thus maximising the quality of food collected and minimising waste, whilst providing a fair distribution of surplus fresh food to a variety of agencies. By remaining autonomous and impartial SecondBite ensures that for today and tomorrow all agencies get ‘fair go’ at receiving good quality fresh food.  Many community groups and agencies provide food for a wide range of cultural groups. Providing the raw ingredients, rather than ‘ready-prepared meals’, allows each individual group the dignity of deciding what menu’s to create.
