1. Welcome

The Chairperson Paul Devereaux welcomed members and guests to the meeting.



2. Fun Run

Rob Green spoke on the proposed Kensington Fun run scheduled for 26 October.

Meeting expressed support for the concept and suggested that funds raised be donated to the Holy Rosary and Kensington Primary Schools.



3. Community Directory

Fiona Burnes presented the new Kensington Community Directory.

The meeting expressed their congratulations and thanks to Fiona and other members involved in the project.



4. Victorian Racing Club Application

Richard R reported on discussions held with the VRC over their planning applications, which include:

· A floodwall along the river;

· Relocation of the tabaret;

· Creation of a new entrance off Smithfield Rd; and

· Relocation of the members entrance on Epsom Rd.



5. Increasing Participation in the Association

David E spoke on the problem of Association meetings being at night and effectively precluding many members from being involved. This particularly affects members with family responsibilities and older members.

Resolved to establish a working party to create a "day shift" which can run in parallel and compliment the evening meetings. Issues to be considered to include: coordination, resources, venue, childcare. Members proposed: Fiona B, Dawn W, Henry W, Kate K, Bill D.

6. Ken Banks Public Open Space

Richard R spoke on the review of the open space contribution in Kensington Banks. 

City of Melbourne are currently sourcing legal advice. Richard to report back at next meeting.



4. South Kensington Freight Yards Noise

Geoff C reported on a meeting held at City of Melbourne with freight operators regarding excessive noise. A study into noise sources and possible mitigation measures is now underway.



5. City of Moonee Valley Issues

Cr Kauzlaric reported a number of C of MV issues including:

· Parking by traders in Bellair St

· Parking by panel beaters

· Plans for the Kensington Town Hall and

· Friends of the Moonee Ponds Creek



6. City of Melbourne Issues

Cr Chamberlain reported a number of C of Melbourne issues including:

· Extension of the early opening trial at the pool.

· The installation of pedestrian lights near the pool on Kensington Rd.

· Upgrade to traffic signals on the corner of Macaulay, Epsom and Kensington Rds.

· Pending meeting with Connex to discuss the Eastwood St reserve.

· Upgrade to streetscape in Bent St.

· Councillors from Melbourne and Moonee Valley meeting soon to discuss boundaries.



6. Simplot

Cr Chamberlain undertook to find out what is the status of the Simplot (Four n' Twenty Pie Factory) site closure and proposed future development/land use.



7. Finance Report

Jeff Langdon presented the accounts for 2002-2003. 

Motion: That the Finance Report be accepted and endorsed:

Thanks expressed to Jeff for his good work on the accounts.



8. Chairs Report

Paul D provided an overview of the last 12 months activities and some of the challenges ahead. Thanked Executive and active members.

9. Election of Officers

All Officer positions in the Association were declared vacant and a process of nomination and election followed. The results of the elections were as follows:
