1. Apologies
Fran Sciarretta, Roger Wilson, Bill Deveney, Lydia Kauzlaric
2. Four and Twenty site
Simplot representatives met Ken Association to discuss future
development of the site. Potential sale in the next 6-12 months.
Next meeting to discuss Simplot site in about 6 weeks.
3. Kensington Community Childrens Cooperative
Local kinder/ creche looking for support to approach MCC and
MVCC to increase child care places as there are currently
240 waiting for child care in the 60 place center. Nick Weeks
recent board member of KCCC concerned that there is a distinct
lack of services for the local community. These concerns were
identified to council last year. Paul Devereux to approach
respective councils to look into further positions and support.
4. Kensington Housing Estate.
Application to develop Gower Street South (Altona Street).
Major concerns regarding disability access and car park issues
were identified by Ken Association to MCC.
Application has been approved by DSE despite Ken Assoc and
City of Melbourne concerns.
David, Lesley and Paul to raise concerns with MCC and DSE
again as an urgent item and to get legal advice to redress
the issue.
5. Kensington Action Plan
Looking at current issues and development needs and services
in the suburb for the future.
Meetings at the community Saturday 6th or Monday 9th of February.
Please support the plan by attending, to speak freely and
push the interests of Kensington. MCC and MVC representatives
will be there.
6. Boundary Issues
Ken Assoc wrote to MCC and MVC re uniting Kensington under
one council.
The Action Plan process is currently the best available public
forum to express local desires to unite the suburb.
Plan to write to both councils expressing a desire for a meeting
to discuss how the process can be advanced.
7. 459 Macaulay Road
Developer has requested a 5 story 9 dwelling site development.
Resolved to lodge a formal objection with MCC.
8. Hobson Road
OMNI development has requested a rezoning of site to allow
800-1000 dwellings. C of Melb officers proposing to advertise
proposal.
Ken Assoc to object to the development based on size and the
built form review recommending a maximum of 350-400 dwellings.
9. Eastward Street Greening
MCC looking at narrowing and greening of Eastwood Street.
Currently no objection and proceeding mid 2004.
10. Right turn arrow at Epsom and Macaulay Road
The long awaited right turn arrow at Epsom and Macaulay Road
and Ken Banks traffic issues still not resolved. MCC to review
at next Council meeting
11. Flemington Racecourse development
Plan to discuss at next meeting
12. Showground development
Plan to discuss at next meeting
The next meeting of the Kensington Association
will be held on Monday, March 1 at 7.30 PM at Holy Rosary
Primary School.
