MCC Election November 2004 the MCC will re-elect the council. KA will send a questionnaire to all running candidate to summarize their key points that they see issues for the local community. Sue Chambers has expressed interest in inviting a Kensington Association member to run on her ticket for council re-lection. 2. Moonee Valley Leader explanation David Ettershank would like to publicly show his support for Kensington Primary School. He feels his recent comments in the Moonee Valley Leader regarding the current boundary issue was misconstrued. He also would like to show his support of reuniting the suburb under one council. 3. Boundary Issue MCC and MVC have recently met to discuss boundary issues, there is a further meeting planned later in June. There is a potential for the KA to address the councils in July to express local residents desires for reuniting the suburb. 4. Community Information Support Fund. KA has decided to spend the allocated money on 5000 fridge magnets to promote the association. The remainder of the funds have gone to develop the KA website and a donation to Holy Rosary school for the use of their facilities throughout the year. 5. Leslie Hoaston Kind thanks to Leslie Hoaston for her tireless efforts for the local community. She is taking leave from Kensington to explore opportunities in a more tropical setting. This leaves a significant gap in the Kensington Estate Community Liaison role. Anyone who has a background in social planning please contact KA or David Ettershank. 6. 4 and 20 Simplot site. Call for tenders has closed and awaiting for response. 7. Eastwood Street revegetation. Currently under redevelopment to include a green strip on the railway line side. there is a potential for future expansion of the vegetation strip. 8. Altona Street Public Toilets MCC is planning to place a public toilet adjacent to the Holland park playground. The playground is also planned for redevelopment, 9. Allied Mills Arden Street The warehouse of Allied Mills has posted a for sale sign. No indications of the intention for use at this stage. 10. Kensington Estate development. KA has had no response from Becton re issues that were raised recently at a community meeting. KA is attempting to contact the developer to ascertain its intention to address issues. 11. Toy Library Additional funding ($21,000.00 per year for 3 years) has been secured to continue the Library. KA wish to express thanks to all involved to maintain this important community service. 12. C47 Lot 9 Kensington Banks. Current plans to develop the vacant land adjacent to Hobsons Road and the riverside park is on hold due to developers wanting to convert the allocated public open space allotment to residential. Awaiting ruling. 13. OMNI development Hobsons Road. OMNI has not reapproached the MCC to develop the site. 14. Precinct Plan. KA is awaiting to receive the draft of the plan to enable some further community input. 15. 10 Simpson's Walk Kensington Residents of 10 Simpson's walk have resubmitted plans to extend their dwelling to 4 stories. MCC will review again and deliver final outcome. |
